The 10 Best Telescopic Fishing Poles

Updated October 16, 2019 by Melissa Harr

This wiki has been updated 18 times since it was first published in August of 2018. You can go fishing virtually anywhere at any time with one of these telescopic poles. Each of these collapsible rods starts out at a size that fits easily into a backpack or a suitcase, then extends to a full length of between 6 and 12 feet. We’ve included models for all types of angling, including fly and surf. Most come with a reel, but some do not, so you may need to grab one separately. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

October 04, 2019:

Telescopic poles, like telescopic fishing nets, are excellent when you're tight on space, but they aren't known for being as robust as conventional models, which is why we've elected to add a couple of moderately portable options at this time. These are the Fenwick Eagle and the Shakespeare Ugly Stik GX2 Travel. The former telescopes, although it does not reach the ultra-short length of many others. But it's made from high-quality materials and comes from a trusted name in fishing rods, so it's worth the consideration of those who can spare the extra room. The latter does not actually telescope; instead, it must be taken apart for easy transport. But it, too, is from a beloved brand and is made to go the long haul.

As for models that offer the highest degree of portability, the Sougayilang Ultralight and KastKing BlackHawk II take top honors. You can carry these in your suitcase when you fly or even in your backpack when you'll be roughing it. And because they're offered in various sizes, there's a model for nearly everyone.
