This wiki has been updated 26 times since it was first published in January of 2017. Is a summer day of fun in the sun ever truly complete without someone getting soaked? If you plan on busting out the weaponry, you may as well do it in style. Let's be honest, we’re all kids at heart, and the water balloon launchers listed here provide endless hours of entertainment for the whole family during the dog days of the season. Just make sure to always use them under adult supervision. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

October 12, 2020:

Since the previous version of the list was made up of almost identical models, we focused on providing some variety in this update. If you're buying for a small family rather than a large event, models like the Stream Machine Wrist, Bunch O Balloons Slingshot, or OgoSport Splash Tail are a good idea, since they can be used by a single person, rather than requiring teams of three. For a two-player game, the Goliath Zoom Ball is a unique option. While it doesn't send balloons flying in the traditional sense, it does allow players to fling a balloon-filled ball back and forth, never knowing when the contents are going to pop. The OgoSport Bouncer can be used in traditional water balloon fights and a shield that sends projectiles hurtling back toward opponents, but it can be used for cooperative play as well. Players can bounce balloons back and forth, trying to prevent them from hitting the ground. Remember to always be considerate when playing in public spaces like parks and be sure to clean up all of the balloon pieces when the fun is over. While many modern water balloons are biodegradable, they can still pose a choking hazard to young kids, pets, and wildlife.

March 23, 2019:

We would be lying if we didn't admit that the majority of water balloon launchers didn't appear to be very similar. In fact, they are almost identical, so when it came to rating them there were really mainly two factors that played a major role — durability and distance. When it comes to distance, there are three standout options: the Vivorr Captain Splash, the Quarter Mile Cannon, and Bam Extreme Slingshot. The first is known to have very resilient bands, and the last has also earned top marks for having a very durable pouch. Parents will appreciate that the Hydro Sling Assault and Yes4All Super Boom come with storage cases, so hopefully the slingshots and balloons won't be left lying all around the house. While the pouch on the Water Waves Sling has been reported by some users to rip over time, it does have a lifetime warranty, so if that ever happens you can just contact the company for a replacement. Whichever option you decide to go with, never let kids use them without adult supervision, as things can get out of hand pretty quickly.
