May 12, 2020:
A waterproof dog bed can keep your pup from slumbering in a puddle of piddle, but keep in mind that most aren't made for an extended soaking. You'll want to clean up any accidents as soon as possible, in other words, to prevent long-lasting damage. With that said, we still think the PLS Pet Paradise and the Milliard Anti-Microbial represent a good value for the cost, but the Majestic Pet Suede Bagel is the option to beat. Unlike most foam choices, it has sides that make it easier for your pup to get comfortable. Plus, the suede is soft and the base is durable. For pet owners in hot climates, we added the K&H Pet Products Original Cot, which lifts your dog off the ground. This allows for excellent breathability, and if your pet should happen to have an accident, the mesh allows it to drain off the sleeping surface. And because it is simple to assemble and disassemble, it makes a great portable dog bed, as does the Kurgo Loft Wander, a roll-up model that's exceptionally light.
If your dog should happen to have arthritis or any other painful condition, the Buddyrest Crown Supreme and the Dog's Balls Orthopedic might be a better bet. These were designed specifically to stop painful sleeping, whether the issue comes from hip dysplasia, osteochondritis, or just plain old age. They're both on the pricey side, but they're made to high quality standards and come in a range of colors. The latter is perhaps not as waterproof as some of the competition, though.
