The 10 Best Weight Racks

Updated July 28, 2019 by Quincy Miller

This wiki has been updated 31 times since it was first published in September of 2015. There's nothing more frustrating than having to stop in the middle of a workout to hunt down the right weight — except maybe injuring yourself by tripping over a plate that's lying on the floor. These racks can help you avoid both of those situations, as they organize free weights in a way that's safe, compact, and user-friendly, so you can lift without any interruptions. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Body Solid GDR500 Commercial gyms — or anyone who owns an awful lot of vinyl dumbbells — should consider this option, as it can stack over 100 weights in its ten columns. Editor's Notes

July 25, 2019:

There aren't many options out there that can hold both dumbbells and Olympic plates, so you'll likely have to pick one or the other (or invest in multiple units). The Marcy Combo is one of the few models that can accommodate both, which boosted it in the rankings, but that versatility limits the amount of room you have for either, which is why it wasn't higher on this list.

The AmazonBasics Neoprene is perfect for those just starting to build their home gyms, as it actually comes with weights. However, it's more suited for users who want to turbo-charge their aerobics sessions than hardcore lifters looking to pack on bulk, so be aware of that before buying.

It's hard to articulate exactly why the XMark Fitness XM-3107 is the top pick, since there aren't any bells or whistles we can point at that set it apart. Instead, it's just really good at what it does, which is store lots of dumbbells in a way that makes them convenient to access mid-workout. It's also attractive, durable, and remarkably stable — come to think of it, maybe it's not so hard to articulate why we like it after all.
