Updated August 28, 2019 by Melissa Harr

This wiki has been updated 30 times since it was first published in January of 2016. Whether welding is your profession or part of an artistic hobby, one thing you don’t want it to be is dangerous. That’s why it's important to invest in the proper protective gear, including gloves to shield your hands from sparks and heat. These options offer a variety of styles and sizes suitable for stick, TIG, and MIG welding. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

August 25, 2019:

Just like a welding helmet, welding gloves are a crucial piece of PPE. When it comes to protection and comfort, it remains tough to top models from US Forge, Steiner, and Caiman, so we have kept these as top picks. The US Forge 400 are especially notable, since they are not too expensive yet provide good protection. But as with any other pair, they can wear out over time, so you should always inspect them before use. For something with more coverage, there’s the Caiman Deerskin or Rapicca Blue. The former is the more durable and comfortable of the two, but they're also more expensive and so might be the choice of professionals, not casual DIYers. Finally, we added the West Chester Ironcat 6100 Metal Tamer after some debate. Unlike most, they are not made from leather. Instead, they feature a silicone construction. For some light duty work this is fine, but they just can’t offer the same protection as truly heavy-duty leather choices.
