Safety 1st car seats after a crash

We couldn't find a published Safety 1st rule on crashes, so follow your manual and NHTSA's guidance.

NHTSA says to replace a seat after a moderate or severe crash, and that a seat doesn't automatically need replacing after a minor one: NHTSA's five conditions for a minor crash.

Safety 1st car seat recalls

NHTSA lists 6 child-seat recalls filed under Safety 1st (including two 2011-2012 recalls its maker, Dorel Juvenile Group, filed under its own name) since 2010, newest first. A recall only applies if your label's model name or number matches; the checker above narrows the list to your seat's build date.
