The 10 Best Baseball Mitts

Updated July 10, 2020 by Sam Kraft

This wiki has been updated 25 times since it was first published in October of 2016. Football may be the country's favorite sport, but baseball is still widely considered "America's Pastime." Every ballplayer needs a quality glove, and with one of these mitts, you'll be able to field sharp grounders, catch fly balls, snatch line drives, and protect your hands and face from injuries in the process. They come in various styles for different positions and skill levels. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Killspencer Collector’s Edition If you’re going to spend this much on a baseball mitt, you may want to designate it as a display piece rather than taking it to the diamond. This luxurious, American-made glove is cut and threaded by hand, with plush sheepskin lining on the interior and full-grain black leather on the exterior. killspencer.com

Editor's Notes

July 07, 2020:

Needed to remove a few items from the list for various reasons, including performance and availability issues. We determined that the Nokona 1250C Walnut was designed primarily for softball, and therefore opted to eliminate that glove as well. We also decided to replace the Mizuno Samurai with a higher quality catcher’s mitt from the same company.

Noted that the Rawlings Player Preferred is worth consideration if you’re looking for a good mid-range glove — it costs more than an introductory budget option, but we wouldn’t describe it as expensive. It’s also worth mentioning that the Wilson A2000 may take a bit longer to break in than a typical mitt, but users rave about its performance. It’s safe to say it’s worth the effort.

In the Franklin Sports Meshtek, we added a mitt that will help toddlers get started with the sport. Its low cost is nice, since they’ll likely outgrow it somewhat quickly. Two additional Mizuno models have been newly placed on the list as well — one catcher’s mitt and one youth utility glove. Both offer exceptional performance, a secure fit for most players, and ample padding on the palm.
