Editor's Notes

October 20, 2020:

As baseball is a game that can be played at many levels of competitiveness, we wanted to ensure that we included something for everyone. So, this time around, we've added the GoSports Baseball and Softball, which is a durable, yet inexpensive, solution to marking out a quick pitch in the park, or indoors. This throw-down set up requires no installation and offers official-size bases, a pitcher's rubber, and a home plate. Another addition comes in the form of the Bag of Bases, which may not necessarily come with the most durable of bases, however, it does supply a full set and its handy carry bag provides a compact and organized way to store and transport your equipment, making it ideal for young kids who enjoy a casual game. It also accommodates most throw-down base sets, if you ever wanted to upgrade.

For more seasoned players, or for an amateur team set up, the Champro Molded is a good investment. Though a little pricier than thrown-down models, its durable construction should last you a few years. Bear in mind, though, that it isn't suitable for children as it doesn't have a safety-release, which is required by little league standards to help prevent injuries. If you're looking for a sturdy set of bases for youngsters, the Champion Sports Low Profile is a good choice, as each piece is designed to disconnect from its anchor upon impact to safeguard against injuries, such as ankle sprains.

Baseball is one sport that is enjoyed throughout the country by people of all ages. From little league up to the majors, it is a fan favorite. The game requires various pieces of equipment for proper play, including batting helmets for safety, baseball bats for swinging toward the fence, and baseball mitts for making awesome plays.

Bases, also referred to as bags, are another essential item for the game. How can you slide into home without a home plate? In choosing the best bases available, we looked for durable construction to ensure years of use, as well as different design features. There are many bases out there, but they are not created equally, so we didn't leave out the pricier choices, but we also included budget-friendly options.

The Champro Molded Set includes 3 professional-style bases with reinforced side walls and sturdy foam padding. The anchor posts are bolted, rather than welded, which gives the bases even more durability. The MacGregor Home Plate is a quality selection constructed from solid rubber with beveled edges for player safety. It is a heavy choice, but it is definitely built to last.

If you are looking for options geared more towards practicing, the Champion Sports Training Set includes all 4 bases and the pitcher's rubber, and it can be used outside and inside, thanks to its lightweight, thin design. The Franklin Sports Throw-Down Set is another good practice option, and it can even be used for little league games. These bases are "thrown down" where you want them, and the game begins. It also comes in a glow-in-the-dark color for added fun.

Years and countless jobs later, such as coaching tennis, teaching at the constitutional court of Indonesia, and building a guesthouse on a beach, she still has no intention of settling down. Having begun training in Taekwondo at the age of five, she achieved her black belt before going on to study kickboxing and Krav Maga, resulting in a good knowledge of all things related to martial arts. Through years of hiking up volcanoes and mountains, scuba diving, and just generally riding around on a motorcycle, Cat is well informed in the fields of outdoor clothing and equipment, camping paraphernalia, and of course travel.
