The 10 Best Bean Bag Chairs For Adults

Updated August 17, 2020 by Brett Dvoretz

This wiki has been updated 19 times since it was first published in January of 2019. Bean bag chairs are not just for kids. They're perfect for sinking into after a long day, and make for a good alternative to more structured furniture in dens and family rooms. We selected a variety of models in several colors and sizes to suit most needs. If you have small children, please make sure they never attempt to crawl inside these or eat the filling, as it poses a choking hazard. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Moon Pod The Moon Pod is filled with highly responsive beads that are meant to mimic the floating therapy experience, which might relieve stress. Its cover is soft to the touch and stretchy, and its ergonomic design should be easy on the spine. Weighing just 12 pounds, it's easy to move around, and it can be oriented in either a chair position or laid flat. moonpod.co

Editor's Notes

August 12, 2020:

In selecting our bean bags for adults, we looked for supportive filling, long-lasting materials, and a range of cover styles to fit several types of home decor. We also tried to include a variety of sizes, for those looking to lounge with a friend and stretch out, or those needing something with a small footprint.

The Big Joe Milano caught our attention thanks to its UltiMax beans, which are longer and denser than traditional beans. It also has a cover that can stand up to lots of use and sun exposure if you want to use it outdoors. With its puncture-resistant fabric, the Christopher Knight Haley also scored points for durability. We had to remove the Acanva Plush as it not only sheds its exterior fibers but also has stitching that comes loose.

Those looking for something massive to use as a napping spot or share with a friend might like the CordaRoy's Convertible, which actually transforms into a guest bed and makes a nice, versatile alternative to a folding bed or air mattress. The Jaxx Giant Sofa is another sizeable option at seven feet long, as is the Ultimate Sack 6000, which can comfortably seat two adults, and has a matching footstool.

If you want to add a little flair to a living space, you may like the Posh Beanbags Chair, which comes in several attractive prints while taking up little room. The Jaxx Cocoon has a microsuede cover that looks sophisticated enough to complement upscale furniture. While perhaps a bit louder in style, the Big Joe Captain's Float can add some cheer to a patio area.

January 14, 2019:

Just because someone wants to sink into a bean bag chair doesn't mean they don't still want a grown-up aesthetic, which is why we included the Jaxx Cocoon and Ultimate Sack 6000. We did, of course, add more playful designs, too. We have models with different types of filling — some have the traditional beans you'd expect and others have memory foam for a hugging sensation each time you sit in them.
