While the Holmes Personal and Bionaire Twin fell by the wayside due to availability issues, we quickly found two new replacements for them, namely the Pelonis PFB50A2ABB-V — a budget-friendly model with a 20-inch propeller; and the Black+Decker Mini — a slight option with a nine-inch propeller that’s suitable for use on a basement window sill, or as a desktop unit.

We also observed that our top-ranked Vornado 270 Panel appeared to be suffering from some widespread availability issues, but after reaching out to a representative from the company, we were quickly assured that the 270 should be back in stock within a month of this update’s publication.

Box fans come in many shapes and sizes and have multiple applications, and although they don't have to technically be a square, they do need to have a grille or latticework enclosure. We added larger models like the Air King 9723, Lasko 3720, and Hurricane Classic for users who needed to ventilate or exhaust entire rooms, along with dedicated window, floor, and personal units. Placed the Vornado 270 Panel at the top spot due to its ingenious technology, attractive design (something that seems to go overlooked in the category) and durability. Because quality control tends to be hit or miss with myriad products across the field, we favored selections with warranties.
