The 10 Best Bulk Crayons

Updated September 04, 2020 by Brittany Miller

This wiki has been updated 10 times since it was first published in May of 2020. Bulk crayons are a staple for most elementary school classrooms. They usually come with enough to accommodate dozens of students, often with packs to spare, and offer a smart way to save on supply costs. Some come in a single large box organized by color and ready for bundling yourself, while others include individual packages that are easy to pass out or use as party favors. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

September 03, 2020:

When selecting which bulk crayons to include on this list, we balanced teachers' needs and budgets with students' desire for creativity and fun. While some options feature better quality instruments than others, each selection has its own merits, depending on what's most important to those looking to add these to their arts and crafts arsenal.

Some of the most budget-friendly picks include the Crayon King Bulk, which people will recognize as the pack of choice at most restaurants and kid-friendly parties. While it doesn't provide the most high-end experience, it is a solid go-to and gets the job done. For an economic choice that's a step up quality-wise, we loved the Sargent Art 400 Count, which provides smooth and ample coverage, but is best for older children, as it tends to break with rough use.

Some of our favorite high-end choices of course include selections from Crayola, the standard-bearer in this category. The Crayola 8 Count is a basic, no frills option that suits most needs and comes in individual packages, while the Crayola 800 Count Classpack offers more variety with twice the color options. The Madisi 18-Color Bulk is another brand option that boasts great quality and is even good for melting. We also wanted to include the Crayola Special Effects to this list as an option for adding even more creativity to classroom illustrations.

If artist-grade options are of more interest, we suggest checking out our drawing crayons ranking. There you'll find tools to create masterpieces. Additionally, you might consider checking out our colored pencil sets and art markers lists.
