The 10 Best Ceiling Tiles

Updated December 09, 2020 by Shilo Urban

This wiki has been updated 23 times since it was first published in October of 2017. Though they’re an often overlooked aspect of home renovation projects, ceilings can provide an easy way to add character to a room and further personalize your space. These tiles come in plenty of sizes, colors, and patterns to suit any taste, and they're made from many types of materials — such as metal, tin, plastic, and polystyrene — to offer a variety of installation options. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Special Honors

Alhambra III Hand Painted With brilliant colors of sapphire blue, pewter, and blackened bronze, these Victorian-inspired designs look like something out of a palace. But they're really made of PVC, which makes them compatible with drywall, plaster, concrete, plywood, and even existing grid systems. decorativeceilingtiles.net

Editor's Notes

December 06, 2020:

For this update, we've added the Zeta Decorative, a good choice for minimalists who don't want to have to choose between totally plain ceilings and curling scrollwork. The Armstrong Acoustic have replaced the USG Tivoli; both reduce noise but the former receive better reviews. We've also replaced the Genesis Classic with the Genesis Smooth, as reviewers preferred the smaller size because it was easier to work with.

We've also updated the information for several items, including the Fasade Copper, the Genesis Stucco, and the Antique Astana - the latter of which has been bumped up to number one for its crowd-pleasing style and quick installation, even over popcorn ceilings.

Finally, we've added a new listing in the Special Honors section for a beautiful, hand-painted tile that evokes the feeling of a palace in northern Spain.

March 28, 2019:

Gave the Global Specialty 204 a subtle boost in the rankings for their versatility; they can be installed to just about any surface, which makes them a useful multipurpose option. Also moved up the USG Tivoli a little bit as well, as several reports indicate a high level of satisfaction with them, particularly when they’re used as replacement tiles for models that are no longer manufactured.

Kept the Fasade Bermuda in the top three because they continue to provide users a higher number of style options than most models. They're available in more than a dozen colors and allow you to choose from three different sizes.

The uDecor Marseille are the only new addition to the list. They’re a nice combination of style, durability, and value — while they look highly decorative, they’re actually made with sturdy plastic, which is simple to keep clean since it doesn’t stain or sustain water damage easily.
