These couch caddies and organizers will keep everything you need close at hand, allowing you to settle in for hours and wind down properly. Several options feature beverage holders, too. Editor's Notes

May 17, 2021:

Without a lot of exciting new offerings to choose from, it seems as if this space has stayed relatively stable over the last year, and we found no reason to make any new additions or omissions, save removing the Cup Cozy Deluxe due to availability issues and replacing it with the HigherGen Anti Slip.

We chose the Anti Slip over others because we liked its detachable tray and easy-to-wipe-down design, which seems like a sensible quality for a device that’s so likely to see some spillage during its lifetime, but beyond that it’s quite similar to other options we’ve included on this list, and I couldn’t help but notice the lack of interesting innovation in this category.

It would seem to me that couch caddies are obvious candidates for all sorts of useful integration, as just about anybody could stand to benefit from either a built-in wireless charging station, universal remote control or reading light, but most models in this category remain quite feature bare, and, disappointingly, electronics are all but absent.

Nonetheless, we remain confident that many of our users will find a practical and attractive option on our list that offers just the utility they’re looking for, and we’ll keep our eyes peeled during future updates for any potential advances coming down the pipe.

March 05, 2020:

We got rid of two items — the Kovot Tray and NoNo Tabletop — since they are no longer available. The iLemon Sofa Holder was also removed due to its frustrating tendency to slide off the couch arm, which can lead to a mess and broken devices.

We placed four new additions on the list: two sturdy wooden trays built for armrests, a flexible leather caddy with pockets of various sizes, and a cushy model with multiple slots for holding beverages and other household items.

The Cup Cozy Deluxe has five holders, all of which can keep a beverage insulated, and some that feature special cut-outs for accommodating travel mugs with handles. Thanks to its stout, spring-loaded clamps and hard, lipped surface, the Utrax Clip On provides more reliable stability than most over-the-arm organizers.

After deciding that the pen was mightier than the pliers, Canadian electrical contractor William Rhoda abandoned his career and headed back to college, where he majored in marketing and advertising and won a scholarship along the way to earning a diploma in creative communications. His past career landed him a depth of knowledge in tools and hardware, while his current career schooled him in audio, video and camera equipment. During his leisure time, he’s learned lots about outdoor gear, and years of tiresome backyard maintenance have taught him all about pools and hot tubs. His recreational pursuits include rest, relaxation and revolutionary action, and his roommate’s a hairless cat.
