Editor's Notes

May 27, 2020:

In today’s update, the Carter’s Unicorn 4 Piece joins the selection and moves into the number one spot. Available from a well-known name in baby bedding and clothing, this set incorporates a playful color scheme, with an attractive patchwork comforter covered in rainbows, polka dots, and clouds, as well as squares filled with words in attractive cursive and print. In addition to the blanket and the fitted sheets, it comes with a pink changing pad cover decorated with an embroidered unicorn in one corner. We also added in another set from the manufacturer, the Carter’s Zoo Jungle Safari, which comes with a mainly purple color scheme and is covered with happy animal friends, including a giraffe, a hippo, and an elephant. It incorporates fun geometric patterns and also comes with a dust ruffle and a diaper stacker with fun accents. For a classic theme that many parents and grandparents will remember fondly from their own childhoods, we added in the Disney Winnie The Pooh 7 Piece, which comes with a pleasing ensemble of warm colors like ivory, butter, sage, and pink. The peekaboo-themed quilt has Pooh and his friends peeking out from behind the border. Plenty of matching accessories are sold separately that match this set nicely, including a musical mobile and a plush pillow.

We also rounded out the selection by adding in the budget-friendly Bedtime Originals Blossom, which sports a lovely watercolor pattern with vivid, digitally printed pink and gray flowers on both sides of the quilt, as well as the fitted sheet. The dust ruffle comes in solid pink, and boasts a shirred design for a touch of elegance. A highly popular choice that’s bursting with color is the Trend Lab Waverly Pom Pom. One side of the quilt has a stunning floral print, whereas the other side has a striking Chevron design, all in shades of teal and coral with bold gray accents. In this update, we removed the BabyDoll Carnation Eyelet and the Breathable Baby Mesh Liner to make room for bumperless options, as well as the Baby Owl Boutique, which has been discontinued.

Be sure to follow the proper safety rules regarding your infant’s bedding. Make sure the elastic sheet fits tightly, and don’t place anything in the crib other than the mattress with the fitted sheet. Per the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines, leave quilts and blankets out of the crib when your child is in it, as well as stuffed animals, bumper pads, pillows, and flat sheets, all of which put your child at risk for strangulation or suffocation. Check with your pediatrician as to when is the right time to add blankets or other items to the crib when your baby sleeps in it. When you can’t use a loose blanket, a wearable blanket comes in handy. It is to be worn over your child’s pajamas, and provides ample room for little ones who like to kick their legs.
