It's hard to go wrong with any of the items on this list, but if you're still not sure what kind of set you want there are a few key types to consider. The most straightforward type, the kind of dice used by a majority of the DnD community, are also the simplest. Sets like the Eboot Polyhedral Set, Smartdealspro 5 by 7, and HDdais Jade may seem suspicious because of their price, but there's a reason so many go with these options. In addition to affordability, people love the reliability and seemingly endless color possibilities of plastic dice. They're waterproof, easy to handle, require no special care, don't crack, last a long time, and the list goes on. They're not luxurious or unique, but these sets are definitely worth considering for any level of player.
The next most common variety is metal dice, such as the TecUnite Metal Polyhedral Set, DNDND Metal Game Set, and Haxtec Iron Set. These tend to be a bit more expensive than plastic options, but they're still very reliable. Most people choose these because they find they prefer the significantly heavier weight, which not only improves the feel of handling the dice, but also creates a satisfying thud when rolled, which some find enhances the excitement of the game.
For those who value aesthetics and novelty, simple plastic or metal dice aren't going to cut it. The Wiz Dice Titan Set, Momostar Stone Set, and Paladin Roleplaying Wooden Set all put their own twist on things, and there's no doubt that at least one person at the table will ask about them. Whereas the Wiz Dice Titan Set sets itself apart with an enlarged size but is similar in makeup to other plastic options, the latter 2 sets are truly luxurious. Both cost many times more than a majority of other sets, but it's hard to deny the particular beauty of a real gemstone or carved wood construction. In addition to price these options are generally more delicate than plastic or stone sets, but they make an awesome choice for someone who really wants a special roll.
