The 10 Best Diving Tanks

Updated February 15, 2019 by Brett Dvoretz

This wiki has been updated 21 times since it was first published in February of 2019. Dive tanks need no explanation, as their purpose is obvious — they keep you alive on your underwater adventures. We've included both steel and aluminum options, as well as a few pony bottles that should be able to get you out of a jam if your main tank runs dry for any reason. Note that you should always make sure your visual and hydro inspections are up to date before any dive. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

February 12, 2019:

Though they are expensive, steel models offer many benefits over their aluminum counterparts, which is why we included the Faber FX Series 100 and Faber FX Series 80. The Sea Pearls 80, while perhaps not the best of the bunch, is very affordable and comes ready to use. It should still last you through quite a few years of diving too, so it is a smart value buy for those on a budget. For those who believe proper planning prevents poor performance and want to be ready for every eventuality, we included a couple of backup tanks, like the Catalina Pony Bottle and Dixie Diver Bailout.
