The 10 Best Floor Cabinets
Editor's Notes
October 16, 2020:
Freestanding furniture like these floor cabinets can be a tipping hazard, especially if you have small children around. Because of this, we've included several options that come with special anti-tipping brackets that can be used to secure the unit to the wall. These brackets are pretty simple to install, but they will result in a small anchor hole in the wall behind it, so make sure you're sure about the placement of your cabinet before you anchor it in. These brackets are obviously optional, but I would recommend you use them, especially for our taller options, like the Homecho HMC-MD-015, and Vasagle Freestanding, both of which are over 5 feet high.
All of our options require some assembly, and if you don't have any tools on hand, you might want to choose an option that includes everything you need to put them together. The Hoobro BF27CW01 and the Homecho HMC-MD-015 both come with tools for assembly.
This might seem obvious, but make sure to carefully look at the height and width measurements of the unit you're thinking about buying. Using a measuring tape to visualize how high the cabinet will be in your home might seem like overkill, but you might be surprised at the number of customers who -- despite having the specifications available -- are surprised to see how small or large a unit looks once its in their home.
If you're looking for something a bit larger than the cabinets here, you may want to look at a freestanding shelf as an option. Or, if you want something a little more mobile, a rolling cabinet might be a better fit.
