The 10 Best Floor Chairs

Updated July 02, 2020 by Christopher Thomas

This wiki has been updated 12 times since it was first published in May of 2020. Even if your home doesn't have enough seating, it probably has open floor space, but it's tough to relax on hard flooring or poorly padded carpet. A good floor chair provides cushioning underneath you and back support behind you, and many of them are affordable and easy to fold up for storage. When done right, sitting on the floor can even help maintain flexibility and healthy joints. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

June 24, 2020:

Sitting on the ground is useful for a bunch of different reasons. For instance, if you're into gaming, you might not have a TV that's large enough to comfortably view your game. It's not exactly convenient to push a heavy couch closer either. While many will just opt to sit on the floor, it gets uncomfortable pretty quickly without a backrest. Floor chairs like the Giantex Padded provide excellent back support, capable of holding a hefty weight, which is useful for more fidgety gamers that get really immersed in the moment. The padding isn't the thickest, but it's far better than the hard ground. For more dedicated players who are looking for bells and whistles, the X Rocker Prop Series H3 provides an impressive sound system and the ability to hook up with other models for group play. The extra features come at a steep cost, though, and if sound quality really matters to you, it may be more worthwhile to invest in a dedicated surround sound system.

You might just want some extra seating for when you're having guests. It's common to hold small get-togethers where you run out of sitting space and end up with people sitting on your carpet. It's not a bad idea to have smaller cushions like the Sundale Outdoor Adjustable or the BonVivo Easy II at hand. Both are small enough to be stashed away when not in use, and they're quite comfortable in a pinch. Do keep in mind that with these smaller models, you can start to feel the metal frame after extended use. Seats like the Merax Sleeper avoid this kind of problem and provide more comfort, but the trade-off is the added weight and size.

If you like to meditate regularly, the Malu Luxury is worth a look. In addition to this one's ability to lie completely flat, the cover is microsuede, which is basically tightly packed polyester that is very soft to the touch. For those more experienced in meditation, this is an added bonus, and for those looking to get started, being comfortable is a huge help in removing unwanted distractions. It even brings a strap to help carry it to the park. If you're in search of something more specialized, it may be worth looking at these meditation cushions.
