Faux Roche This set of 14 incredibly realistic rocks are each cast with crushed stone and hand-stamped to have the appearance of limestone, plus no two rocks are exactly alike. They won't keep out invasive grasses and weeds, but each one has a bottom metal stake so they'll stay put. grandinroad.com
Editor's Notes
September 17, 2020:
For this update we replaced the Origin Point Round with another robust metal option in the style of our top choice the Ever Edge Steel. The Edge Right Hammer-In might be a better choice for tougher soil, as the serration runs all across the bottom like teeth to help it slide in more easily.
The other major difference between these two long lasting options is the finish. Ever Edge Steel comes in four colors and are treated to stay that color and not develop any rust. Our new addition, the Edge Right Hammer-In arrives looking like industrial steel but will weather to a rich patina, but while it is rust-colored, it will not deteriorate, and is actually strengthened by the weathering process.
Dimex Easy Flex remains a top choice among plastic options for it's ease of installation and is the simplest choice for gardeners who don't want to spend a lot of money and time.

The Ever Edge Steel is highly recommended for the gardener who wants a permanent solution that doesn't take away from the natural beauty of their landscaping. It's offered in neutral colors that will blend in with the surrounding dirt and mulch and is rated by the manufacturer not to rust for 15 years. The price per foot is pretty high, but homeowners won't have to worry about extremely cold winters causing this option to crack and deteriorate.
The biggest limitation of the Ever Edge is that cutting them to a custom size requires access to a saw that cuts through metal, plus cutting the metal pieces will then expose them to rusting if the edge is not treated. The plastic Dimex Easy Flex won't last 15 years, especially in colder climates, but is a better option for edging smaller or irregular beds that require a lot of custom-cut sizes.
We also included options that add character to the garden like the Suncast Borderstone and the Amagabeli Decorative. Options like the Suncast do go a little into the soil to help stop weed or grass encroachment, but not as effectively as the choices that go several inches into the ground.
