The 10 Best Garden Tool Organizers
Special Honors
Triton DuraBoard This mobile tool cart sits atop four sturdy casters (two that are fixed and two that swivel and lock), which makes it easy to move around on flat surfaces even when it’s loaded with heavy tools. It’s double-sided, with a pegboard and hook hanging system, and it can accommodate up to 650 pounds. tritonproducts.com
Adams Cedar Hutch Technically, this is more of a shed than an organizer, but if you have the space, it’s a great place to stash your yard tools. It’s about six feet tall, with handsome double doors and plenty of shelving. The cedar boards come pre-cut, sanded and drilled, which takes some of the work out of the setup process. cedarwoodfurniture.com
Lee Valley Tote Not only does this bag’s hard plastic bottom protect it from wear and tear, it provides stability, even when it’s only filled with a few tools. Narrow elastic loops help keep tall items like plant markers in place, and a wire cord around the rim lends it some rigidity. It has nine exterior pockets, too. leevalley.com
Editor's Notes
May 28, 2020:
The Keter Compact Storage Rack and Carhartt Legacy Tote were both eliminated due to availability or quality issues. The Keter rack in particular is made with fragile plastic, leading to numerous reports of components breaking easily.
We confirmed that while the Travelwell Tote offers a nice minimalist style and a durable build, many users lament that it doesn’t have a firm base for stability. Also indicated that the Berry Ave System has a 35-pound capacity, changing it from its previous listing of 50 pounds. Noted that the Apollo Tools DT0825, which used to be available in multiple colors, is now only offered with pink accents. The Bucket Boss Bucketeer has nifty loops for hammers and pry bars, which conveniently prevents those tools from getting lost in the chaos of the main compartment.
The Little Burro Original gets a thumbs up for creativity, but by attaching it to the top of a wheelbarrow to create a mobile storage tray, it’s also highly functional. It has received several awards and accolades in recent years, including a nod as a “Top 5 Genius Gardening Product” from Sunset Magazine in 2017.
The Suncast Cart, our other new addition, is an all-around quality option: it’s suitable for holding both large and small tools, it offers ample storage capacity, and it has wheels for portability. It’s also a nice value at its price, and users seem impressed with its durability.
