The 10 Best High Visibility Jackets

Updated March 22, 2020 by Taber Koeghan

This wiki has been updated 26 times since it was first published in October of 2016. If your job requires you to be dangerously close to fast-moving traffic, make sure you can be seen from a distance by wearing one of these high-visibility jackets, which feature bright colors and reflective accents. They come in both warm weather and lightweight designs and are also appropriate for cyclists and late-night dog walkers. There are several budget-friendly options, too. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

March 12, 2020:

Any individual who works in construction, transportation, or similar industries is likely to need a high visibility garment or two. The jackets included here are mostly fluorescent yellow — one of the most visible colors in the spectrum — though there are a few orange options, too. All of the items in this list have reflective tape detailing, and most have pockets and loops for radios, walkie talkies, supplies, and the like. There are options made from weatherproof fabric and even stain-resistant material. Elastic cuffs and hems are useful features to seek out if you know you'll be working in areas where windy and/or wet weather is expected. But if you're looking for something a little bit less bulky, a safety vest might be a better answer for your needs.

These jackets all meet American National Standards Institute, or ANSI, criteria for visibility and safety. New additions to this list include the Timberland Pro Work Sight and Caterpillar Softshell, which were picked out due to their popularity and quality construction. Unfortunately, the Frogg Toggs Road Toad and Helly Hansen Potsdam were removed because of concerns about sufficient visibility features.
