This wiki has been updated 18 times since it was first published in March of 2016. We love cats and kittens but, like most people, we're not so fond of the smell their waste leaves in the house. A hooded litter box can help to mitigate the problem and prevent your pet from kicking debris all over the room. We've selected a variety of designs to fit your individual needs and budget, and even included a self-cleaning option. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Skip to the best hooded litter box on Amazon.

Editor's Notes

March 15, 2019:

The Petmate Cleanstep takes the top spot for the excellent amount of privacy it offers without having to navigate a door flap, plus the rounded shape is the easiest to scoop clean. We considered removing the Iris Split-Hood because of the number of complaints about the lid being knocked off easily, but this box still has a devoted following in a large number of users who love the cleaning grate at the entry and its low price.
