The 8 Best Laptop Vehicle Mounts

Updated February 24, 2021 by Luke Mitchell

This wiki has been updated 24 times since it was first published in November of 2017. If your job requires you to work while on the road, installing a laptop mount in your vehicle can make life a whole lot easier than trying to balance it on your knees. A word of warning, though: be sure to position your chosen unit in such a way that it won't interfere with your car's airbags, and of course, ensure your seatbelt is securely fastened whenever you are in motion. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

February 20, 2021:

This latest update features a range of new additions, from those with permanently-installed hardware that create mobile workspaces, to temporary steering wheel and headrest attachments for working, reading, and eating on the fly.

Of the latter category, we liked the KFZMAN Heavy Duty, as it can be a semi-permanent fixture that folds flat against a rear seat, and incorporates two sliding trays, one of which functions well as a mouse pad, and another that can be used to store a number of peripherals, such as flash drives, USB cables, or memory cards.

The AA Products K002-BC is a good choice for those that require a regular space to work and plan between meetings, as it attaches to the metal runners under the front seats. It features two USB fans that will keep your device cool inside the vehicle's cabin, which is especially useful if you run demanding applications for work. If you need extra stability, a 9-inch supporting bar can be purchased, but is not included in the package.

On a professional level, the CTA Digital Multiflex excels and is ideal for those who film, edit, or record sound on location or when in motion. Similar to a professional camera mount, it uses quality hardware and is sturdily built, securely clamping your computer in place, while enabling quick adjustments to facilitate ease of movement around the vehicle.

October 17, 2019:

At this time, we've kept vehicle mounts that are installed for permanent use, but we've also added a couple that are quickly removable, for those who need to go from work mode to family chauffeur mode in a hurry. These include the thoughtfully designed Ram Universal Seat-Mate, which pops into the passenger seat on those days you need a mount. One thing, though. It, along with most of the Ram options, are somewhat lacking in the instructions department, so prepare to be patient as you're learning to use it. But when it comes to stability and toughness, Ram models are hard to top, whether cradling your high-end laptop or budget tablet. For those who need something on the more wallet-friendly end of the spectrum, we kept the AA Products K-005B1, but opted to remove the Bracketron Universal. Its durability over time is lacking, making the AA Products models a better alternative for the cash-strapped.
