Editor's Notes

October 10, 2019:

Removed the Tuff Country 32909 because the quality of the welds was a concern. Suspension components like strut spacers for trucks as large as the 2500 series Rams should have full beads, not just tacks. Added the Rough Country 392.23 and the Bilstein 5100 set.

When lifting a truck SUV, the preservation of suspension geometry must be considered. Most importantly, the angle at which your CV axles mate with the wheel - lifting a truck's height raises the axle's mating point with the transmission but not the wheel, which can lead to early failure. This is avoided if the lift is under 3 inches and can also be somewhat mitigated by larger tires and drop knuckles. If you're lifting your truck higher than 3 inches, you should consider kits that include more appropriate suspension components such as control arms, steering knuckles, and trailing arms.

Working on a truck's suspension can be dangerous given that many components are under high pressure and loads. It should only be performed by trained automotive technicians to avoid personal injury or damage to equipment.

Lifting your Ram 2500 is something that, if done right, can significantly upgrade your truck. However, without the right information or products, it could also go very wrong. It all comes down to how much you're willing to spend. On a budget, many simple lift blocks seem attractive—they're cheap, simple and easy to install. Lifts like the Supreme Suspension kits and the ReadyLift 69-1231 are affordable and come with most necessary equipment. The real question, though, is: are you willing to tune your suspension as well? Lifting trucks can wear other parts over time, especially if you often go off-road. This is where spring lifts come into play. The Skyjacker R25 Coil Spring Leveling Kit stands out because it's designed for functionality as well as aesthetic. This style lift will eat through potholes, ruts and anything else you throw at it. At the end of the day, it all depends on what your reason is for lifting your truck—so consider that when you're making your purchase.

The Ram 2500 (formerly Dodge Ram 2500) has been built on the same platform since the 2009 model year. However, in 2019 they significantly upgraded the truck. While it still shares many components with the 2009-2018 versions, some aftermarket parts may not fit the same way. Always read instructions before install and check the model years applicable before buying.
