The 10 Best LOL Surprise Dolls

Updated by Ezvid Wiki Editors · How we research

The top 5 LOL surprise dolls: LOL Surprise OMG Candylicious, LOL Surprise Mermaids Baby Sisters, LOL Strawberry Shortcake Tots, LOL Surprise Music Festival and LOL Surprise Big Party

Blind balls, Tweens, OMG fashion dolls and big unboxing sets compared; the LOL Surprise OMG Candylicious leads as a full doll you can choose on sight. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

Most LOL Surprise dolls are sold blind: the ball or box hides which of several characters is inside, so a child set on one doll can end up with a duplicate. Window-boxed fashion dolls are the exception. Sizes run from tiny Tots to large Big B.B.s, and nearly every package carries a 4-plus age grade because of small parts.

Editor's Notes

October 23, 2026, by Ezvid Wiki Editors:

The LOL Surprise OMG Candylicious now leads the list, because a child gets a full fashion doll with real styling play, picked on sight, for about the cost of two small balls. Every doll on the old list came from the 2018 to 2020 waves, and none of them is sold new any more, so the whole list is new. The Bigger Surprise that used to top it only turns up as a single resale box at a collector's price.

The brand has leaned into crossovers since then, and two of them made the cut: the LOL Strawberry Shortcake Tots, whose scented dolls come in a ball that opens into a little house, and the LOL Surprise OMG Hello Kitty. The LOL Surprise Music Festival dolls are the cheapest way into the current wave. For a party gift, the LOL Surprise Big Party packs four dolls into one box.

For this update we went through MGA's package contents for each doll, a British parenting magazine's toy-panel notes on color change, and trading-standards warnings about counterfeit dolls. If a child is set on one character, buy a window-boxed doll instead of hoping a blind ball delivers.

Earlier notes

October 28, 2020, by Sheila O'Neill:

Since LOL Surprise often releases new collections, we updated this list extensively, removing some discontinued series and replacing them with more recent offerings. We also made an effort to focus on variety for this update, while still making sure that plenty of classic options remained on the list.

Lights Glitter dolls come with a uv flashlight that transforms their outfits and makeup, making them glow with bright neon colors. O.M.G. Roller Chick is a good choice for older kids, as the figure is meant to be an older sister to the smaller dolls. Since it's an articulated figure, it can be posed to show off your child's latest fashion creation. All-Star B.B.s are a good choice for kids who are interested in cheer or other sports, as they come with pom-poms and other accessories meant to encourage team spirit. If you have boys who want to get in on playtime, or girls who want more variety in their collection, Boys Series 3 is a good option. And for some cute companions who can keep the original dolls company, the Makeover Lils line comes with pets, little sisters, and little brothers.

This list was extensively updated and expanded to include the great variety of options as the popularity and collectatbility of these dolls continues to explode. No longer confined to arriving in balls, the universe of LOL Suprise dolls has grown.

We kept some of the basics like the Lil Sisters and Confetti Pop, and even added the Bling and Glitter Glam as they are the traditional way of receiving and un-boxing the dolls. They make a great lower cost gift in most cases and so can be bought in multiples for those trying to collect a complete set.

We added the Fuzzy Pets, Hairgoals, and Under Wraps because they give older fans more to do with the toy, like styling the hair, or solving the secret codes to open the capsule, plus they have 15 surprises instead of the usual 7.

The Eye Spy Bigger surprise took the top spot for being a great option for a special birthday or larger Christmas present for the child already enthusiastic about collecting these dolls. While the balls and capsules are more stocking-stuffer sized, the bigger line gives the child a ton of toys for the price and expands their collection.

Tots, Tweens Or OMG: Picking A Size

A rough rule of thumb: for a younger child, start with a ball; for an older one who likes dressing dolls, a Tween or an OMG doll gets more use.

The line now comes in four main sizes, and the size decides how a child plays. The smallest are the Tots, Baby Sisters and Pets, sold in balls about the size of an orange. They are cheap, they're all about the unboxing, and the dolls are small enough to lose. Tweens are taller teen-style dolls, sold one character per box, with poseable bodies and a brush. OMG dolls are full fashion dolls, roughly the size of a classic 11.5-inch fashion doll, with rooted hair and removable clothes; they are for kids who want to style and dress a doll more than they want to unwrap layers. The Big B.B. dolls are large babies built for hair play.

MGA's own store groups the current waves by size and theme, which is the quickest way to see what is out now (MGA shop). A British parenting magazine's toy panel singled out the layered unboxing as the fun part of the small balls (Made for Mums). A rough rule of thumb: for a younger child, start with a ball; for an older one who likes dressing dolls, a Tween or an OMG doll gets more use.

Blind Packs, Rares And Duplicates

Most balls and small boxes are blind. The outside tells you the series, not the character, so a wave of eight dolls means a one-in-eight chance of any given doll, and a child chasing a full set will hit duplicates. Many waves also hide a rare or chase version, such as a shiny pink disco ball in the Music Festival series or a gold ball in Eye Spy Pets.

If a child wants one particular character, buy a window-boxed doll: the OMG and Tweens dolls, and licensed lines like Hello Kitty and Friends, show exactly who is inside (MGA shop). Swapping duplicates with friends is part of the hobby, and fan groups run trades. As for value, everyday dolls are made in huge numbers and sell for little once opened. Only sealed limited editions tend to hold a premium, and even then prices swing with demand. Buy them to play with, not as an investment.

Small Parts, Water Play And Fakes

Almost every LOL Surprise package carries a 4-and-up age grade, and the reason is the accessories: shoes, bottles, hats and charms are small enough to fail the federal small-parts test for toys meant for children under 3 (16 CFR 1501). Keep the pieces away from babies and toddlers in the house, and pack them into the ball or case after play.

Color-change dolls usually need cold water, and some need it ice-cold; warm water reverses the effect. Use clean water and dry the doll afterward. We found no LOL Surprise doll recall in the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's database (SaferProducts.gov).

Counterfeits are the bigger worry. Trading-standards officers in Britain have seized fake dolls with screws in their backs, misspelled brand names and no safety testing behind them (Inverclyde Council, Lincolnshire County Council). Genuine packaging names MGA Entertainment. A price far below everyone else's, or an unknown seller, is a reason to look elsewhere.

How we researched this

We compared 18 current LOL Surprise dolls and sets, plus the 10 on the previous list. For the finalists we read MGA's package contents and age grades, a parenting magazine's hands-on toy-panel notes, trading-standards counterfeit warnings, and owner feedback patterns. We checked every line against the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's recall database. Updated October 23, 2026 by Ezvid Wiki Editors.

Frequently asked questions

Which LOL Surprise doll should I buy for a first gift?

For a child under 6, a small ball such as Mermaids Baby Sisters or Music Festival gives the full unboxing for little money. For an older child, a window-boxed OMG or Tweens doll lets you choose the character and gives more styling play.

Are LOL Surprise dolls still popular?

Yes. MGA keeps releasing new waves, and the current lineup leans on crossovers with Hello Kitty, Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears. The older 2018 to 2020 series are no longer sold new.

Are any LOL Surprise dolls worth money?

Ordinary dolls sell for little once opened. Sealed limited editions and rare chase dolls can fetch more from collectors, but prices vary a lot, so buy them for play rather than as an investment.

What age are LOL Surprise dolls for?

Almost all packages are rated 4 and up because the accessories are small parts. Some Tweens and unboxing sets carry ranges up to 16.

What's the difference between Tots, Tweens and OMG dolls?

Tots and Baby Sisters are small dolls in blind balls. Tweens are mid-size teen dolls sold one per box. OMG dolls are full-size fashion dolls with rooted hair and removable clothes.

How do I tell a fake LOL Surprise doll?

Look for MGA Entertainment on the packaging, correct spelling of the brand, and no screw in the doll's back. A very low price from an unknown seller is a warning sign.
