The 10 Best Marine Speakers
Editor's Notes
March 18, 2019:
When choosing marine speakers, watch out for user reviews and brand reputation, because some (Ahem... SONY) claim to be weatherproof, but end up degrading and even practically dissolving after just a year or so of use. To that end, you'll find a mixture of good options from somewhat familiar speaker brands that have gone the extra mile to give you hi-fi tunes on the water. These include Pioneer, a highly cost-effective choice that sounds fantastic, as well as Kicker, Kenwood, and Rockford Fosgate. Some of these are pretty costly, but if you want your music to sound good, they're probably worth it to you. In the middle of the pack when it comes to cost, you'll find some Rockville models that are a good balance of price and performance, as well as Jensens and Fusions. And if you're looking for more utilitarian options, or maybe something less expensive to fill out your nautical surround-sound setup, it's hard to go wrong with Pyle's budget-oriented model, although they don't offer much in the way of bass. Whichever you choose, make sure to inspect them thoroughly when you receive them, and install them with care, because one faulty seal or an improper installation make a big difference in terms of both a unit's sound quality, as well as overall reliability and lifespan.
