The 10 Best Purse Lights

Updated August 14, 2020 by Melissa Harr

This wiki has been updated 24 times since it was first published in October of 2017. If you have ever struggled to find something inside your purse, you need one of these nifty handbag illuminators. They make it easy to locate that tube of lipstick or house key quickly in even the darkest conditions. These tiny lights can also be used in backpacks or luggage, or as travel nightlights for when you're on the go. They are quite reasonably priced, to boot. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

August 12, 2020:

Because we know that having a dim, frustrating purse light might be worse than no light at all, we decided to remove both the Glitz See Motion-Activated and the Xodus Innovations Always Glowing. But there are plenty of great choices still out there, including the popular Brainstream Soi, which is sleek, easy to use, and handsome in a minimalist sort of way. We updated our Nite Ize pick to the Nite Ize Radiant Micro Lantern, which is rechargeable. It's a little pricier than the Moonlit Micro Lantern, but it saves you money — and hassles — over the long run, since you don't have to invest in and change the batteries. You will need to provide your own charging cable, however.

As for new additions, we selected the Sun Company Wildlight, which we think is a fun flashlight that adds a little personality to what could, potentially, be a bland item. The same could be said of the Hello Kitty Automatic, too. Of course, if you don't enjoy cutesy items, these may not be your best option. In this case, stick to the aforementioned Soi, the Energizer Touch Tech, or the Nebo Lumo. These offer simple styling that gets the job done without a lot of flash.

July 31, 2019:

If you use a purse — or any kind of bag, really — you've probably had one of those moments where you need something in a hurry, but can't find it because of how dark and cluttered your bag is. These purse lights make it easy to find whatever you're looking for quickly. Many of these products have motion sensors, so the moment you open your bag, the light switches on to illuminate your search. Multiple attachment mechanisms are represented in this list, including options with hanging strings, carabiners, clips, and keychains, and we've even chosen two free-floating lights: the Glitz See Motion-Activated and Brainstream SOI. No matter your preference, we've compiled such a diverse collection that you're all but guaranteed to find something that suits your needs.

New additions to the list are the FunkySky Heart, Nite Ize Moonlit Micro Lantern, and AloneFire Clip. The VSspeed with Power Bank, Brainstream SOI Mini, and Wasserstein White Heart have all been removed due to availability issues.
