The 10 Best Rear Derailleurs
Editor's Notes
December 09, 2020:
In the latest update, we upgraded the SRAM X01 to the SRAM XX1 Eagle. The XX1 Eagle is the company's most recent model, featuring a redesigned geometry that cuts down on chain slap and improves chain management. It supports an 11-speed 1x drivetrain, something many mountain bikers are switching to as it's less complicated, more reliable, and better suited for trail riding.
The Campagnolo Veloce was changed to the Campagnolo Centaur, which has many of the same features the company's premium models have. This includes rounded teeth on the lower pulley wheel and long teeth on the upper cog, both of which result in smoother shifting and less noise.

While they may all look relatively similar to the novice, the engineering and construction quality of rear derailleurs can actually make a huge difference in how well your bike shifts between gears. We did our best to include models that function well in a variety of price ranges, as well as units designed for trail and road riding.
