The 10 Best Roman Chairs

Updated April 09, 2019 by Quincy Miller

This wiki has been updated 34 times since it was first published in February of 2016. It's hard to live an active and healthy lifestyle if you have a weak core. These Roman chairs can take care of that for you, as they allow you to perform a wide range of exercises targeting your abs, obliques, and lower back. Our selections are compact and inexpensive enough for home use, but just be careful, because you can seriously injure your spine if you use them incorrectly. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

April 04, 2019:

We're big fans of the Marcy JD-3.1, as we feel any machine that makes the exercises comfortable increases the likelihood that you'll stay committed to your workouts. Given that it has a durable steel frame, it's likely to be able to assist you with your core strengthening regimen for years to come.

It may not look terribly stable, but the Stamina X Hyper Bench manages to provide a steady platform for you to do your crunches, back extensions, and more — and then it folds up when you're done. We're not convinced it will last as long as the March JD-3.1, but it's a solid choice, especially for those living in cramped spaces.

The Valor Fitness CB-13 should work well for both newbies and those looking to push themselves to extreme levels. The foot platform gives you a welcome bail-out spot if the exercises get to be too much for you, saving you from potentially collapsing to the floor.

Sharing a home with three dogs and a couple of cats has forced Quincy to learn as much as he can about pet supplies, animal nutrition and, most importantly, the best ways to tackle the mountains of fur that accumulate in every corner of your home.
