This wiki has been updated 13 times since it was first published in January of 2020. Oral hygiene is one of the more crucial parts of your overall health, as well as your daily routine. Poor dental care can lead to various problems, including gum disease, and while most people understand the importance of brushing and flossing their teeth, they tend to overlook cleansing the tongue. A clean tongue is essential, and choosing the best tool is the first step to a healthy mouth. February 21, 2020:

We all know how important it is to maintain a clean and healthy mouth. When you flash your pearly whites, you want them to actually be pearly white. But oral health is more than just white teeth. Yes, you have to brush daily, and you also have to floss. Keeping your tongue clean is a necessary step in dental hygiene. You might think that using your toothbrush on your tongue is enough, but there are tools available that cleanse your tongue much better than a quick scrub with your brush.

We tried to choose scrapers and cleaners that come in different sizes and materials. You decide whether you want a metal or plastic scraper. The biggest advantage to selecting metal is that it generally lasts longer than plastic. You can also pop most metal scrapers into the dishwasher to get it clean. Plastic scrapers are usually the cheaper option, but keep in mind that a plastic cleaner needs replaced more than a metal cleaner, thanks to normal wear and tear or even accidental breakage. Tongue scrapers, in general, are not expensive, so the choice between metal and plastic really depends on your personal preference.

The MasterMedi Scraper is a popular stainless steel option. The Orabrush Scraper is a plastic option if you prefer a softer texture, and it has brushes to clean your tongue even more thoroughly. Since good dental hygiene begins during childhood, we included the 55 Dental Smiley, which is made specifically for children. Using a tongue scraper in addition to your regular brushing and flossing will help keep your mouth healthy for years to come.
