The 10 Best Travel Laundry Bags

Updated October 26, 2019 by Melissa Harr

This wiki has been updated 19 times since it was first published in March of 2018. There's no need to lug your dirty clothes around in plastic trash sacks, which are bad for the environment, weak, and not very attractive. Try one of these travel laundry bags, instead. They’ll keep your stuff drier, cleaner, and more secure, and since they’re reusable, they’ll help you reduce waste on trips. We've chosen options both big and small, so there's something for everyone. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Tom Bihn Travel Laundry Stuff Sack Although the Tom Bihn Travel Laundry Stuff Sack comes in two sizes that were specifically designed for two of their most popular carry-on bags, these practical sacks can certainly be used in conjunction with any bag you please. Each has a clever floating divider that lets you adjust the ratio of clean to dirty clothes as your trip progresses. tombihn.com

Patagonia Guppyfriend You can keep your dirty stuff away from the clean on short trips with the Patagonia Guppyfriend, but it's more than a run-of-the-mill sack. Made for use in the washing machine, it contains your synthetics and traps microfibers so that they don't enter the municipal water supply. And if it should be damaged, no worries, it's fully recyclable. patagonia.com

Lands' End Canvas Duffle It's on the larger and heavier side, but for car camping, RVing, and similar, the robust Lands' End Canvas Duffle will help you haul a lot of clean/dirty laundry or gear. Plus, it can be monogrammed, making it a fun, personalized gift for the voyager in your life. landsend.com

Editor's Notes

October 22, 2019:

Unlike a traditional laundry hamper, these travel laundry bags are made for portability, going anywhere you do. But we've looked for more than just plain sacks and kept a range of items that will serve various types of trips. These still include the Scrubba Portable Laundry System for washing clothes, designed to help you carry less, and the Bagail 5-Piece Set, which can function as delicate garment bags for the washing machine. We've removed the aLoksak Multi-Pack, though, as the zipper simply doesn't hold up over time and heavy abuse. If you need a bag to hold wet items, consider the Sea to Summit Big River Dry Bag, instead. Finally, we added the Eagle Creek Pack-It Specter Split as a choice that's hard to beat; we like the dual compartment construction, top grab handle, ultra-light fabric, and sturdy stitching. It would be nice if it came in a wider range of colors, but considering the convenience and durability, this is a very minor quibble.
