Davek Mini Opinion is divided when it coms to the Davek Mini. Some love its ultra-tiny size, which lets it slip into some pants pockets, while others find that its canopy is too small to be effective. For these reasons, consider it a fine backup or a go-to for those who are mainly concerned with keeping their head and shoulders dry. davekny.com

Knirps X1 Pod The sleek zippered case that houses the Knirps X1 Pod is stylish as well as practical, since it helps keep your wet bumbershoot from dripping in your purse or backpack. A manual option, this model has a canopy arc of 41 inches and weighs in at 9.9 ounces. knirps.com

Editor's Notes

June 03, 2019:

Although it's easy to think that travel umbrellas are all the same size, there's actually quite a bit of variety, so we've included useful models from both ends. On the larger side, there's the Totes Golf Size, which gives you the wide canopy you need for true shelter but without the long stick and handle of traditional golf umbrellas. As for micro options, there's the Fidus Mini. At less than half a pound, it won't be burdensome no matter where you go, although you can't expect it to provide a large, wide shelter. But we think the best choices aim somewhere down the middle, and these still include the Repel Travel Windproof and the LifeTek 42 FX1. They aren't so tiny that they're impractical but aren't so big that they're hard to carry. Both are moderately priced, but if these are still a bit too expensive, you might look at the AmazonBasics Automatic. Note that it may not save you money over time, however, as it doesn't last as long as some. But no matter which you choose, you can extend the life by being sure to let it dry before storing it.
