This wiki has been updated 23 times since it was first published in December of 2017. Whether for professionals whose jobs force them out in the elements or for students given to bouts of weeping during finals, these waterproof notebooks will repel liquids so important jottings are not lost. Although writing on them can take a little getting used to, their versatility and durability can be extremely useful. For your convenience, we've selected a range of sizes. Editor's Notes

September 11, 2019:

Not all of your journals and notebooks need to be waterproof, but for the ones that do, we have looked for a range of options that are tough, versatile, and a cinch to use. This selection still includes models from popular maker Rite in the Rain, of course, including the All-Weather Spiral-Side and the Tactical. The former is larger, so it’s good for actual writing and detailed note-taking, whereas the latter is pocket-sized and perfect for small jottings. And we still like The Indestructible, Waterproof, Tearproof, Weatherproof Field Notebook, even though the pages can stick together from time to time. We’ve decided to add the Pictostone A6 Journal, as well, a top-notch stone paper option that provides a velvety writing experience. Plus, the company plants one tree for each notebook sold, so it’s an eco-friendly choice.
