This wiki has been updated 3 times since it was first published in July of 2019. It can be incredibly demoralizing to visit a friend's home or a commercial establishment only to discover that there's no way to get your wheelchair inside. The ramps on this list ensure you'll always manage to get where you need to be, as they're portable, sturdy, and easy to deploy. Of course, consult a doctor before you buy one to confirm your chair will work with the model you have in mind. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Skip to the best wheelchair ramp on Amazon.

Wheelchair Liberty Auto-Fold Roll-a-Ramp You can simply unfurl this model out the back of your van with the press of a button when you're ready to get out, then press the button again to spool it back up. It only takes up a foot of interior space when folded, so it isn't likely to be in your way. wheelchairliberty.com

American Access Patriot This option is sleek and stylish enough that your house will look like it was designed with the ramp in mind. The picket railing will come in handy for caregivers, and the powder coating will ensure that the whole thing looks good for years to come. 101mobility.com

Editor's Notes

August 01, 2019:

There are multiple scenarios in which a ramp might be needed, and a single model might not be suitable for each situation you encounter. With that in mind, we tried to include a diverse mix of options on this list, with everything from foldable aluminum models to semi-permanent options making an appearance.

It's important that you know why you're buying a ramp before you make a purchase, or at least that you know which situation you struggle with most frequently. For example, if you just have trouble getting in and out of doors, you may only need a threshold ramp instead of a long, telescoping one. However, the threshold ramp will be nearly useless for getting into cars or traversing multiple steps.

The type of chair you own is important, too. If you need to be pushed by another person, make sure you have a ramp that can support the weight of two people. Also, some ramps, like the Mabis DMI Healthcare Retractable, aren't advisable for users with electric wheelchairs, so do your research ahead of time.
