The 8 Best Windshield Repair Kits

Updated October 27, 2019 by Rafael Perez

This wiki has been updated 22 times since it was first published in April of 2018. If you've got even a small crack or chip in your windshield, the constant vibrations from the road will cause it to gradually spread, until there's nothing left for you to do but replace the entire thing at a potentially very high cost. With one of the windshield repair kits here, you can seal the damage before it gets worse, but check your local restrictions on driving with a damaged windshield. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

October 23, 2019:

Added the Visbella S233 and the Permatex 81730. The 81730 is great for repairing non-cracking holes and any areas on the perimeter of the windshield where the silicone has failed (normally on the top seam). Older tail light assemblies also have a tendency to eventually allow water to penetrate as the silicone becomes brittle and this compound can be used effectively to reseal them. The Visbella is very cheap, yet it includes much more than most other options available. The curing film is great when used with a UV light, although, the kit does not include one.

Check local law for restrictions on driving with a damaged windshield. Even if cracks are halted, it may still be illegal to drive with the visual obstruction.
