The 10 Best Yugioh Booster Boxes

Updated October 31, 2020 by Josh Darling

This wiki has been updated 23 times since it was first published in March of 2018. The Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game began as a fictional pastime in Kazuki Takahashi's popular manga. The comics were serialized into an anime sensation that swept the nation, and this meteoric rise to success virtually guaranteed that the corresponding game would be a smash-hit as well. If you're looking to join in on the fun, these booster boxes are a great way to begin building your own deck. Special Honors

Deluxe Card Sleeves If you're hoping to sign up for some official tournaments, you'll need to purchase regulation card protectors for your deck. They come in a wide array of designs, but these slick sleeves are designed to match the backs of cards, so it looks like there's no protector at all. Some tournaments are fairly strict, so regardless of the design you prefer, you'll probably want to order official Yu-Gi-Oh! protectors just to play it safe. yugioh-card.com

Editor's Notes

October 28, 2020:

The brunt of this update involved bringing the copy up to our current editorial standards, though we also looked into the current happenings within Yu-Gi-Oh! community, both in terms of resale values for collectors and utility in competitive play. While it does seem that there isn't a tremendous change in regard to which cards are in highest demand, a few updates have warranted some restructuring within the list. The biggest item of note is that the release of Dragons of Legend: The Complete Series has essentially made all previous Dragons of Legend sets obsolete by combining them into a single series. We also added a few sets that feature a good deal of cards from popular competitive decks, including The Dark Illusion: 1st Edition.

We decided to include mini-boxes like the Maximum Crisis: Special Edition for those who may prefer to buy just a few packs at a time. The price per card isn't quite as good as that of Battle Pack 3: Monster League or Shadow Specters: 1st Edition, but you're unlikely to see as many duplicates, and if there are only a few cards you're hoping to find, there's a chance you'll pull them in your first couple of packs anyway. We also included a few boxes that offer some extras, like the game board and tokens in Legendary Collection 4: Joey's World or the collectible dice in Dragons of Legend: The Complete Series. These small bonuses didn't factor heavily into our decision to include any of these sets on this list, but they were taken into account in terms of determining the rankings of sets that were otherwise close.

All this said, this should really only be seen as a jumping-off point for those who have been out of the loop for some time and folks who are just now deciding to start playing the game. If you have particular cards you're looking for or a specific deck you'd like to build, definitely look into where you can find exactly what you want.
