All the bimini tops in our ranking are constructed using marine-grade materials that repel water and sunlight for years without becoming weakened by the harsh elements and prolonged exposure to ultravoilet light. Features to look for when choosing a cover for your boat should include resistance to shrinking and stretching, mold and mildew resistance, thick aluminum frames, and resilient canvas, that is less likely to tear or tarnish.

Another factor that deserves consideration is the method in which the canopy is secured. Some, including the newly-added Oceansouth 8-Foot, King Bird 3 Bow, and XGear 3-4 Bow have supporting struts at the rear that makes for a far more solid structure, which is then tensioned with the nylon strap towards the front of the boat (in this instance, "bow" refers to the number of contacts the bimini has with the deck of the boat).
