This wiki has been updated 25 times since it was first published in April of 2017. With board games enjoying a well-deserved resurgence in popularity, there is more variety than ever before, but finding the right place to jump back in doesn't have to be difficult. Our recommendations include options both familiar and new, with choices for toddlers, pre-teens, and those in between. Just make sure any you buy are age-appropriate, as some have small parts. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

Editor's Notes

February 27, 2019:

Despite being an all-time classic, Sorry! dropped off this edition of our list (if only there were some way to apologize...). While still undeniably fun, the game has seen several recent updates that only served to detract from its appeal. The other entries on the list range from those targeted to a certain age range in particular, like Candy Land or Settlers of Catan, to those that should be fun for the entire family, like Labyrinth. Most of the titles shown here are intended for small groups, such as a parent and one or two kids, but there are a few — like Gotrovo Treasure Hunt — that are perfect for entertaining large groups at birthday parties and sleepovers.

4. The Settlers of Catan

5. Candy Land World of Sweets

6. Hasbro Connect 4

7. Peaceable Kingdom's Hoot Owl Hoot

8. Chutes and Ladders

9. Melissa & Doug Suspend

10. Hasbro's Battleship
