Editor's Notes

January 22, 2021:

Due to the simplicity of their design, all of the selected cable straps featured in this wiki are still current and therefore no replacements are necessary for this update. The various styles and materials used offer practicality and are suitable for tidying a variety of cables, from thin wires such as found on headphones or chargers, to thick HDMI and audio lines, through to multi-cable applications.

August 09, 2019:

Virtually every single option on the market is available in black, and for good reason: it blends in and doesn't draw attention to itself. But don't dismiss brightly-colored models as novelties, as they can be useful for things like color-coding wires or drawing attention to important cables. That's why so many of our top selections include some vivid options in addition to basic black.

While all of the straps shown here will do a great job of organizing HDMI cables and the like, many have myriad other uses. The Mmei Multi-Purpose, for example, work surprisingly well outdoors, allowing you to wrap cables, extension cords, and even small water pipes.

We included models with various means of attachment as well. Some have a loop at the end, which helps make things even more secure. Others are Velcro from one end to the other, which makes them easy to fasten but increases the likelihood that they'll get snagged on something. The Folai Self-Adhesive is the most unique option here, as it functions more like a traditional zip tie; this makes it unsuitable for reuse, but it is fantastic for permanent installations.
