The 10 Best Jiggers

This wiki has been updated 16 times since it was first published in May of 2020. While free pouring liquids when making cocktails might look like a lot of fun, the best mixologists depend on jiggers to keep their measurements exact and their concoctions consistent. As simple as they may seem, there’s more to a good model than meets the eye, and an intimidating number of designs to choose from. Below is a carefully researched list of some of the best options out there. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

June 10, 2020:

While most people think of parsing out alcohols when it comes to jiggers, don’t forget the many other mixers whose exact proportions can seriously affect your cocktail outcomes. Bitters in particular benefit from proper measurement as they can go from being undetectable to destroying a cocktail with just a few dashes. Similarly, if you’ve ever juiced citrus for a demanding tiki drink, you know that not every lime or lemon holds the same volume of liquid. While mixing drinks doesn’t require the same sensitivity as something like baking, ratios do matter, and those with discerning palates will notice the difference.

In a perfect world, all hourglass-shaped jiggers would be cast as single pieces like the Piña Barware Slim, which would keep them from eventually snapping due to weak spot welds. However, many of the best options are made from two connected pieces, so if you do end up getting something like the Mosscoff Mule or A Bar Above Premium and it ends up snapping, just know it can simply be put back together with a strong glue that is made to work on metals.

Accuracy played a big role when it came to final choices, and those models which offered more precision like the Oxo Angled and Kolder Mini were given preference over other considerations. This is not to say that aesthetic appeal was not taken to account, only that it was subordinate to practical concerns. At the end of the day, jiggers are tools to make specific cocktails following established procedures, tried and true recipes, and so on, not decorations or conversation pieces.
