Editor's Notes

July 04, 2019:

There are many reasons one might choose to cut down on carbs, and for our purposes, we considered many of these, and ultimately chose to focus on low-carb bread varieties that are well-suited for diabetics as well as those following a keto diet or paleo lifestyle. Our curated list features all types of loaves, including rye, pumpernickel, flaxseed, 7-grain, honey wheat, oat bread, and even a cauliflower-based offering. While none of these taste exactly like their traditional, carb-packed counterparts, you may find that you actually enjoy some of them better.

Besides taste and nutritional makeup, we factored in price and shelf life when making our decisions. Though some of our picks come in bundles of 3 loaves at the minimum, all of our picks will keep well for a long time in the freezer.

On this update, we introduced a few new items to our list. These items are as follows: Sami's LoCarb 7-Grain (#2), which is produced at a popular bakery in Tampa; Outer Aisle Gourmet Cauliflower (#4), which may be the most commercially popular pick on our list; Sola Low Carb (#5), for its four delicious varieties sold at a reasonable price; and ThinSlim Foods Rye (#7).
