Williams Sonoma Goldtouch The Williams Sonoma Goldtouch boasts an upscale gold-colored design, but it’s more than just a pretty face. It’s resilient and strong, standing up to heavy use whether you’re making banana bread or meatloaf, and is fine to slip in the dishwasher when you’re done. williams-sonoma.com

Staub Cast Iron Although the Staub Cast Iron is pricey, it’s one of the most robust options available, making it an investment in quality. Plus, unlike many others, it’s induction appropriate and safe for temperatures all the way up to 500 degrees. zwilling.com

Editor's Notes

December 16, 2020:

Since meatloaf needs to bake slowly, you need bakeware that can cook foods evenly without burning. Some people prefer stainless or aluminum pans, but glass, ceramic, and silicone do a great job, too. Whatever your preference, you’ll find these choices check the boxes for stability and versatility.

Besides rusting and flaking issues, users found the Chicago Metallic Professional Non-Stick hard to clean. We replaced it with the Rachel Ray Bakeware Set, which comes in two pieces also. But it proved to be more durable. A rack with drainage holes lifts so that the fat remains in the pan. Plus, it browns food well and easily wipes clean.

The Anderson Baking Mold is not presently available. We also eliminated the Copper Chef Perfec because it left meatloaf soaked in grease even with the insert. We included the newly released Walfos Silicone set. It’s BPA-free and dishwasher safe. Also, we replaced the Good Cook Ceramic with the Kingsbull Home Ceramic. It is handpainted with an attractive floral pattern and can go straight from the oven to the table. For those who cook with air fryers and pressure cookers, we chose the Fat Daddio Pro.

September 12, 2019:

At this time, we have kept models made from a range of materials, so there should be an option to suit most preferences and complement many popular cookware sets. We added the Norpro Stainless Steel and kept the Good Cook Ceramic for those who are worried about non-stick coatings. These health-conscious models are long-lasting and strong, so you should get plenty of use from them. There’s also the Pyrex Easy Grab, which, being glass, is also perfectly food-safe; the lid isn’t completely air-tight, however, which means your leftovers could dry out if they’re left sitting for too long. We decided to keep the Wilton Perfect Results, even though its coating can flake if it’s scrubbed or cut with too much enthusiasm. For those who must have a non-stick surface, and who are willing to be gentle, it could be worth it, though.
