The 10 Best Metal Sheds

Updated December 23, 2020 by Karen Bennett

This wiki has been updated 23 times since it was first published in October of 2018. Unlike wooden structures that can be time-consuming to build and maintain, and resin prefab outbuildings that may fade and crack from exposure to the elements, metal sheds are exceptionally easy to assemble and hold their own in all sorts of weather. They’re ideal for durable year-round storage of everything from gardening supplies and lawn-care equipment to outdoor toys and patio furniture. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

December 16, 2020:

A number of new models and replacements come on board today, including the Arrow WR65 Galvanized, which is made of steel yet resembles an attractive faux wood cabin-like exterior. It’s more resistant to the elements than a wood construction would be, and its double sliding doors make it easy to put things inside and retrieve them. They can be padlocked to keep your items secure. It gives you 413 cubic feet of storage space. Note that, as with many, this model does not come with flooring, so that will need to be purchased separately, along with an anchor kit. The Outsunny Outdoor House is another newly added model that’s made of robust steel, and this one comes in two sizes, both of which provide a generous amount of room for storing a lawnmower or a set of patio furniture during the off season. This one is equipped with four vents to help keep moisture from building up inside that could cause mold or mildew.

We also added in the Absco Premier for anyone who prefers a storage shed with an assembly process that doesn’t involve a lot of tools or fasteners. It comes from an Australian company that makes a range of steel sheds and other outdoor buildings. Its proprietary assembly system involves panels that snap together, and if you download the companion smartphone app, you can access helpful setup videos there. This shed is available in several sizes and boasts a modern gray color that will go well in most yards. If you’re storing a lot of things on wheels, its built-in entry ramp makes for an easy process of taking them in and out. The Hanover Nordic also comes on board in this update. Unlike many, this attractive option comes with a four-pane window, so you’ll have plenty of natural light inside. It’s also got hinged double doors equipped with a bolt lock, and compatible with a padlock if you care to add one in. It stands more than seven feet in total, and the reverse apex roof enables rain water, snow, and leaves to slide right off. Today say goodbye to several models, due to availability issues, including the Duramax Imperial Garage, the Click-Well Storage, the ShelterLogic Spacemaker, and the Stratco Handi-Mate.

November 04, 2018:

Aimed to address a wide variety of purposes and installation types, with smaller options for compact utility or garden storage and garage-type outbuildings designed for sheltering large vehicles and heavy equipment.
