Peopoly Phenom As a luxury-tier, resin-based 3D printer, this machine is absolutely massive. You might even need help moving it around. It’s best-suited for industrial situations with a dedicated workspace, since it’s not very portable and meant to pump out large creations. peopoly.net

Editor's Notes

April 05, 2020:

While substantially more expensive than their filament counterparts, resin 3D printers tend to be significantly more precise. They’re a relatively new technology becoming more popular every day in the 3D printing community. As a result, working with resin printers can be intimidating for beginners. Though, the ones we’ve listed are easy to operate and require little setup, yet offer advanced customization that any enthusiast would appreciate.

The Anycubic Photon lies at our top spot, as it’s an all-around winner. One of the pioneering resin-based printers, the Photon sets a gold standard by simply getting the job done right. With its very reasonable price tag, it lets anyone jump into the 3D printing community with ease. Anycubic’s brand of resin is even preferred for many printers from other brands since it has a relatively subtle odor and results in structurally stable builds. Many other types of resin tend to chip away.

The Anycubic Photon S is the previously mentioned model’s successor and has a steeper price. While it offers a few enhancements from the standard Photon such as a better touchscreen and double the print speed, it fails to improve upon some elements like having a plastic cover as opposed to acrylic. Also, any software upgrades on the Photon S are currently available on the Photon. Unless you already have the original model, it’s still worth considering the hardware upgrade based on the benefits though.

The Qidi Tech Shadow stands out on our list, as it comes packaged with a variety of goodies that other printer bundles often overlook. While most of the included accessories aren't absolutely essential, it’s always nice to have a high-grade facemask and tool kit while working on new prints. Even if you’re experienced with 3D printing, the Shadow’s accessories make for great backup inventory.
