Classic Medicine Cabinet with Shelves This attractive cabinet offers a modern twist on the sliding door concept, as it’s the shelves that slide out sideways from behind the mirror. Their varying heights accommodate bottles of different sizes, while side rails help keep everything in place. It’s crafted from solid poplar wood that’s finished in a classic white, with silvertone hardware and an attractive beveled mirror. potterybarn.com

Winston Porter Odelia Edge This recessed cabinet is made from a sturdy steel frame that houses two mirrored, dual-track sliding doors with metallic handles. Its roomy inside includes one fixed shelf that’s great for storing your often-used toiletries, cosmetics, and medications. Measuring 20-by-24 inches with a 4-inch depth, it would make a stylish addition to any powder room. wayfair.com

Editor's Notes

September 22, 2020:

Today’s update sees the addition of the Signature Hardware Wulan Teak, which features an attractive surface-mounted installation with unobtrusive recessed handles on the left and right sides of both doors. It has a depth of just under six inches, and a pair of shelves provide a good amount of storage space. You can purchase it with confidence, thanks to a lifetime warranty. The Jensen B703850X also joins the list, and its recess-mount design ensures it will fit snugly into the wall and give you plenty of room for holding bottles, brushes, and more. Its body is made of strong welded steel, and its interior is coated with heat-cured white paint. It’s resistant to rust and is designed to give you a clear, distortion-free free reflection. These two newly added models replace the Azdent Wall Storage, which is currently unavailable, as well as the Kohler Verdera, which is from a well-known name in plumbing products and cabinetry, yet which does not feature sliding doors.

We still feel the Homcom 30-Inch is a choice that’s tough to beat when it comes to looks, durability, and functionality. This lighted medicine cabinet uses energy-efficient LED technology to brighten up the room and help make an easier job of things like shaving and applying makeup. It’s easy to install and features a convenient built-in electrical outlet. It can hold an impressive load of toiletries, with a weight capacity of 33 pounds. Another couple of models from Jensen remain on the list as well, including the Jensen Lighted, which is a simple, yet effective choice that’s surface mountable and suits any type of decor. The Jensen Cosmetic Box is a low-profile design made to complement a larger mirror, and it’s got handy predrilled mounting holes and clear acrylic handles.

December 28, 2018:

Added models from popular budget manufacturer Jensen and those from luxury producer Krugg, although they tend to run on the more expensive side. Also selected the Kohler Verdera, which offers a soft-close door that makes a fine alternative to sliding doors, and the Kate and Laurel Cates Barn Door for its fun, rustic look.
