The 10 Best Snowblowers With Electric Start

Updated October 07, 2020 by Tina Morna Freitas

This wiki has been updated 21 times since it was first published in December of 2018. Yanking on a gas-powered snowblower’s pull cord repeatedly in the hope of getting it running is no fun, especially in subzero weather. For this reason, many people prefer an electric start model, since it fires up with a simple touch of a button, requiring less time and physical exertion. Here is a selection of reliable choices based on their construction quality, special features, and price. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Editor's Notes

October 02, 2020:

For this update we removed the Cub Cadet 2X 26 HP because replacement and repair parts are difficult to find, and we replaced it with the Poulan Pro PR241. The Poulan is only slightly smaller and is still safe for clearing gravel driveways, so it's a comparable choice for homeowners with a large property. It's also a lot easier to maneuver.

We include in our list single and two-stage snowblowers, which generally aren't comparable to one another in snow clearing ability and engine power, but our top choice, the Toro Snow Master 724 QXE offers two-stage power, yet it's considerably lighter like a single stage, a bit more compact, and it clears all the way to the ground, something the typical two-stage blower cannot do.

December 31, 2018:

Electric start is just one of the dozens of options you can get with a snowblower today, so the overall price range is considerable, depending on which bells and whistles you choose (think heated hand grips). Whether you want a single-stage model or a more powerful two-stage one will affect your price considerably as well. Here we included a wide range of selections for all needs and budgets.
