She tries to help him, putting herself at risk in the process. Unknown to Akira, the gentleman is a noble from Gordon who is keeping his identity a secret in an effort to protect his land. Together, the two set out on a perilous journey.

The female protagonist has been widowed three times and is in dire need of a husband. Because most men are scared of her misfortune, Dundotter settles for tying the knot with a strange fellow from the pillory. Even though they agree to part ways after the harvest, Moirra soon finds herself attached to the mysterious man.
