This wiki has been updated 22 times since it was first published in October of 2016. If you've ever had the unfortunate experience of cutting your finger while slicing a bagel with a knife, then you'll know these gadgets are worth their weight in gold. They also make halving many other baked goods quicker and easier. But, as with any sharp kitchen utensil, you'll still need to supervise children to ensure they use it correctly and safely. Editor's Notes
July 22, 2019:
Safety was the first and most important feature to consider when we evaluated the bagel slicers available on the market. Any of these choices, when used as the manufacturer recommends will save you costly trips to the emergency room.
We found the Larien Products 5400 Plus to be worth it's higher price tag because it is built for frequent use in a commercial setting, and while the blades stay sharp longer than the competition, the blade can be replaced, thus extending the life of the durable plastic base.
While we considered some of the simple clear acrylic choices that are so commonly available, we couldn't find one that wasn't unstable and flimsy. And we needed to remove the Bagelpod Slicer because it was discontinued.
