Editor's Notes

June 24, 2020:

Aromatherapy using essential oils is a surprisingly accessible holistic treatment that can be practiced by just about anyone, but we must stress a few things for those just getting into it. First, many essential oils are toxic to pets and very young children, and you should never apply any oils, even diluted ones, on animals or infants under three months. Adding oils to baths or diffusers where pets or kids can breathe them in or come into contact with them can also be harmful, and be sure to keep them off your skin if you'll be coming into close contact with vulnerable groups.

It's important to check with your doctor before using oils to medicate yourself in any way, as everybody reacts differently to holistic treatments, and many claims of wellness benefits are anecdotal or supported by small studies and require more research. And even though essential oils are natural, that doesn't mean they're safe to ingest. When in doubt, consult a physician. Finally, when applying any of these topically, make sure they are diluted properly and always do a patch test to ensure you're not allergic. If you start showing signs of irritation, stop right away.

Today's update saw the removal of the Edens Garden Best of the Best, Calily Starter, and Flower of Life Pendant. The first two became unavailable, and we decided to swap the Faurora Tree of Life for the Flower of Life, as the chain is much stronger and it comes with bigger bottles of essential oils and more refill pads. Because Edens Garden is one of the most lauded brands out there, we added the Edens Garden Everyday to replace the Best of the Best set and brought on Healing Solutions Best for users who strictly want blends without the hassle of mixing them.

Finally, to bring our selections up to an even 10, we added the UpNature Wellness Relief. These portable rollers can be tossed in a purse and are diluted with carrier oils to be applied topically to the skin. They're great for bringing along to yoga or meditation, or for use as a grounding technique if you tend to disassociate due to anxiety.
