This wiki has been updated 10 times since it was first published in March of 2018. Hitting nutrition goals each day can be challenging, especially if you don't have the time or skills to prepare homemade dishes with fresh produce on a regular basis. Many people add flaxseed oil to their diets in order to boost their intake of omega-3 fatty acids easily, and you'll find liquid and capsule options here, to suit your preferences. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki. Skip to the best flaxseed oil on Amazon.

Editor's Notes

September 27, 2019:

It's important to note that even though many claim flaxseed oil (and similar supplements rich in "healthy" fats) is good for the cardiovascular system, these products have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration or any other public health agency. Add supplements to your diet only after consulting with a physician.

When it comes to the efficacy of flaxseed oil in supporting health and longevity, scientific research has yielded inconclusive results. Depending on your diet, supplements like flaxseed oil may help you hit nutritional targets so you can feel your best, but it's crucial to pay attention to how your body reacts to any new item introduced into your diet. For example, if you already eat plenty of seafood, nuts, and vegetables, you may already be consuming an adequate amount of omega-3 fatty acids.

Several products have been added to and removed from this list. Sports Research Plant-Based and Now Foods Dietary are new additions, included due to their quality formulations and popularity. By contrast, questions concerning quality led to Nature’s Way EfaGold being removed, and because of availability issues, Puritan’s Pride also got the ax.
